About Eclipse ImageAnalysis® -
Baseline test to determine if a DVD Image is ready for replication**

The beginnings of the Glass Master - You don't want to blow one of these.

Eclipse ImageAnalysis® checks the Control files, File system, and User data on a disc (Disc Image, or DDP Image) and on DLT tape (DDP Image), while testing the DLT tapes' viability; all the data got on, and can be read back.

An Image that passes this test, is guaranteed to be able to be replicated without a hitch.

New Constellation Technologies is licensed with the same image analysis tools as your replicator; Your DVD Image will be 'in sync' with them.

EclipseSuite® are the respected tools of the DVD Replication Industry
  • Eclipse ImageAnalysis® - DDP/CMF format Image testing from DLT, Disc Image on
DVD+-R or replicated disc, or from Fire wire hard drive. Eclipse ImageAnalysis® is the backbone
of the various tools in the EclipseSuite®.
  • Eclipse ImageVerify® - Two Images are compared where ever they reside:
Hard drive/DLT, DLT/disc, DLT/DLT, etc. to make sure they're identical to the original, and at
the same time an ImageAnalysis® report is generated.
  • Eclipse ImageIntegrity® - Auto checksum generation and validation on Images
(DLT --> hard drive/Network --> DLT, etc.) as they move through New Constellation Technologies
    Verification and/or pre-mastering/Verification process.
  • Eclipse ImageCopy® - An Eclipse ImageAnalysis® report is generated as Images
are restored from DLT or Disc to hard drive (or from hard drive to DLT, or to DVD-+R),
and when making DLT duplicates. New Constellation Technologies uses ImageCopy to write our
customers Images to DLT tape. Sweet.
  • Eclipse ImageSignature® - A component of Eclipse ImageIntegrity®,
Eclipse ImageSignature® is an advanced checksum routine that takes into account
changes replicators need to make to your Image for mastering; especially handy for projects with
CSS encryption where the replicator has to insert encryption keys. New Constellation Technologies
uses ImageSignature® to verify check discs to make sure the images match what you/we
    sent in to the plant.

    More on Eclipse's ImageSignature feature
  • Eclipse ImageUtilities® - Imagemapper®: DDP/CMF Images restored to hard
drive are mounted on the desktop to get access to the VIDEO_TS folder (for MEI verification, etc.).
ICheck®: "Signatures" for Images are generated, allowing quick comparison validation of replicated
(including CSS) check discs. TapeDir®: Quick reading of any DLT tapes contents, DDP/CMF formatted,
or not. TapeCopy®: Whatever is on that DLT tape is going on the hard drive; restores all
data forms, CMF/DDP/ANSI formatted, or not.

At New Constellation Technologies, we recommend testing your DVD Image with Eclipse ImageAnalysis® both before and after replication -

Important Notification: Over the last 3 years, New Constellation Technologies has developed and tested a whole new way to use Eclipse ImageAnalysis® to proof DVD Check Discs after replication. We are now reliably able to detect if there are possible physical defects on manufactured discs that could affect playback of the DVD in players, without expensive and time-consuming CATS testing.

Replicators do not check their discs for physical errors (don't have time), and they regularly send out entire runs of discs that have problems playing in players. Find out about the explosive issue here, and how New Constellation Technologies can help protect your clients' replication run.

Replicators use Eclipse ImageAnalysis® -
why should you engage your own test?
A few Eclipse Image Analysis
"Rules"
  • NOT STANDARDIZED - Eclipse Image Analysis® is used differently in the
workflow at various replication plants. Some plants only check the Image
as it's being mastered. If a problem as found at this stage, the client is out the
cost of a glass master ($900 or more).
  • UPGRADES MISSING - Most replicators are not running the current version of
Eclipse Image Analysis®, which means crucial parameters are not being checked - like
    whether the layer break for a DVD-9 falls on a cell, and that the cell is properly flagged;
testing the layer break cell was just added in Eclipse™ 4.0.
New Constellation Technologies always runs the latest version.
  • NO HANKY-PANKY - Unless you have a very special relationship with your replicator,
you will not be able to see these reports, and risk being at disadvantage with
no basis for troubleshooting if any problems arise. New Constellation Technologies
allows authors, for the first time, to have direct access to these reports on
    their DVD Images.
  • TRAINED STAFF - For various reasons, many plants do not have the level of trained
personnel necessary to diagnose, and will never fix any problems discovered.
What do you tell your client when a replicator kicks back your submission with
some obscure error or warning? New Constellation Technologies
has the experience to sort out any problems before your Image is even
    submitted to the plant.
  • ERRORS SNEAKING THROUGH - The replicator has the option to set the "severity"
of the rules in Eclipse Image Analysis® , i.e., how various anomalies are reported and
dealt with. At more than a few replication facilities, issues that are set for "warning"
should really be set to "abort" the mastering process, but aren't.

New Constellation Technologies ensures your Image
    is truly ready for replication
  • SMOOTH SAILING - A "squeaky clean" Eclipse Image Analysis® test accompanying
your job submission to the replicator (very impressive, btw), eliminates the interruption of
the job due to warnings or errors, as well as the possible traumatic implications of your client
being notified that there's a problem at the plant.
Our Eclipse ImageAnalysis® Testing For You:

Fed Ex us your pre-mastered DLT's and/or DVD Recordables, containing your final Image, or your DVD Check Discs and we will run the Eclipse Image Analysis® test on them. If there's a problem, we contact you and discuss the solution in detail.

1) If we pre-master for you, know that all final Images are checked with the MEI DVD Verifier® and Eclipse Image Analysis®, among other tools, before they are shipped to the plant, or back to you. Please contact us for pre-mastering pricing.

2) If you run into trouble at the plant (you by-passed or didn't know about our services), we can run Eclipse™ tests on the disputed Image. You then have an experienced and knowledgeable party working for you to resolve the issues with your replicator. We regularly are able to prove that it's not always the authors fault, and can help secure a refund, or the replicator being responsible for the cost of another run. Of course, if it's your fault, we'll help you correct things. Please contact Trail if you find yourself in a Jam at the plant.

** Important Note: Although Eclipse Image Analysis is crucial, it does not check the VIDEO_TS folder for DVD Spec compliance (IFO files, VOB data structure, navigation commands, etc).

New Constellation Technologies recommends that minimally, in addition to Eclipse Image Analysis, the MEI DVD Verifier®, in conjunction with certain features in DVDAfterEdit, plus a bank (145 and counting) of our specially selected test players, and Trai's 10 years experience in DVD project analysis, be employed in whole or in part, to certify that the Image is truly ready for replication.
